TP Trucking & Logistics Reaches the Lone Star State with new Transload Facility
At the start of August, TP Trucking & Logistics commenced new warehousing and logistics operations by assuming operational control of an existing transload facility in Pasadena, an industrial suburb of the metropolitan area of Houston, Texas.
The company negotiated and assumed a property lease from QSL, Inc. TX to continue with the transload facility’s operations and serve the former’s customer base. This is a big deal since the city of Houston is the fifth largest container port in the country, and creates potential for future endeavors within the base market in the area.
The transload facility has 140,000 square feet of indoor warehouse space, around 7 acres of outside storage, 16 high dock doors for loading and cargo transfer, 2 inner loading docks for flatbed trailers, and a rail siding for up to 9 railcars.
The facility is also very versatile in material handling. Things like super sacks, IBC totes, paper rolls, wood products such as lumber and panels, metal and fiber products, and even steel coils can be stored at the new facility with ease.
But the types and amounts of loads this facility can handle is not all that it offers. It also has an open switch rail track served by the PTRA railway network, which allows it to directly receive all Class I railroads in North America. Heavy and large loads that would otherwise need to be hauled to the location can be loaded and unloaded on site. Things such as bulk railcars, open-top gondolas, center beams, flat cars, and box cars are just some examples of the full track’s potential.
The new Houston facility will not only be a transload center, but it will offer new local, regional, and OTR freight opportunities for TP Trucking & Logistics. “Establishing ourselves in this major market area will assist us in achieving short, mid, and long-term goals for trucking and logistics,” says Joe Chapman, General Manager of Warehousing & Logistics.
TP Trucking & Logistics’ new location will work in conjunction with Timber Products, extending their domestic business by offering additional reloading services as they continue their growth in the central United States. It will also provide Timber Products’ international division and other customers with convenient access to the port of Houston, the dominant port for the Gulf States comprising 74% of the market share.
TP Trucking & Logistics is committed to growth and is very excited to operate in this new market. The potential for the company’s presence in the region is undoubtedly beneficial to the operation goals of expansion across the continental United States. The Timber Products and TP Trucking & Logistics teams are eager to visit Houston to see the new transload facility in action.
