Robots Strike Again: Corinth Plywood Introduces Robotics to Prefinish line
Update from Ray Null, Corinth Plywood Mill Manager
In early April, we installed a robot (we call him “Bubba”) at the infeed of our prefinish line. The installation and commissioning were a fun exercise for the Corinth maintenance and engineering teams to work together on and we have been learning more about its capabilities each time we have the opportunity to utilize it. Since April, we have had to make very few adjustments to the robot and it always seems to be ready to go to work anytime we ask. Bubba has been a great addition to Team Corinth!
If you aren’t part of the Corinth team, the name Bubba may sound a bit funny, but it comes from one of our past mill managers, Levon Newsom, who retired in 2010. Levon was known to give everyone the nickname “Bubba.” Everyone was Bubba, so it only made sense for our new robotic employee to also go by Bubba.
We also have plans to install a second robot at the outfeed of the prefinish line to handle the off-stacking of panels coming soon!
